On October 4 2014, Phylanthropic Inc and The Fitness Guru of NYC partnered together to produce a one of a kind event. The Guru Games was a team based obstacle course to help raise awareness for Childhood Obesity for the New York City based organization  HealthCorps®.  HealthCorps®,  was founded by heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, as a unique health educational and mentoring program that represents more than a traditional classroom experience.

The day the consisted of 6 teams of 6 young health enthusiastic professionals competing against each other in activities created by @TheFitnessGuruofNYC Corey Rouse. Corey, a professional celebrity fitness trainer based out of New York City implemented several intense, competitive and team based obstacles which created a high energy fun atmosphere for all.

Rain and mud didn’t stop the 36 competitors and close to 30 spectators from enjoying a jam packed day of exercise. Each individual who journeyed to Astoria Park Great Lawn supported our effort to commit to the mission of eliminating childhood obesity. This was an amazing day as friendships formed through blood sweat and tears.

Obstacles:

Guru Crawl (sledge hammer crawl)

Guru Dash (wounded warrior dash)

Guru Flips (Tire Flips)

Guru Block Dash (Cinder Block Dash)

Guru Tire Rolls (Tire Rolls)

Guru Log Carry

We would like to congratulate JTWFit Team for taking home first place and bragging rights!
